Cambodia, Singapore discuss possibility of importing rice and other agricultural products from Cambodia to Singapore

 Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Thippadei Hun Manet and Singaporean Prime Minister, H.E Lee Hsien Loong on September 5, 2023 met to discuss the possibility of importing rice and other agricultural products from Cambodia to Singapore’s market, as well as plans to build a seabed power transmission line from Laos to Singapore.

The two leaders discussed the need to further strengthen existing cooperation and expand cooperation in potential areas such as trade, investment, tourism, education, security, energy, health, digital, agriculture and defense.

At the meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia, Samdech Thippadei Hun Manet expressed Cambodia's intention to learn from Singapore's experience in the field of defense, especially in the implementation of military service of the people.

H.E Lee Hsien Loong agreed to study the possibility of continuing to provide technical support and training to Cambodia in both civilian and military fields, and he also invited Samdech Thippadei Hun Manet to visit Singapore in the near future. 

The Prime Minister of Singapore congratulated Samdech Thippadei, on his appointment as the Prime Minister of Cambodia, and recalled the meeting with Samdech Thippadei Hun Manet in 2018.

Samdech Thippadei Hun manet expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and said that Singapore was the first country to send a congratulatory letter to him. In addition, Samdech Thippadei Prime Minister expressed his pleasure to see the improvement of the long-term relations and cooperation in all fields between the two countries, especially in the field of defense and education, where Singapore has always provided technical assistance as well as training to Cambodia.
